Cold, Taken
to the Extreme.
Whole-body cryotherapy surrounds you with ultra-cold air for two to three minutes. The skin-level cold shock drives a surge in norepinephrine, modulates the inflammatory response, and demands a controlled reaction from the nervous system. Used correctly, it is a tool for recovery, alertness, and mental resilience. Shorter and sharper than a plunge, applied with the same intent.

What the Cold
Does to You.
Ultra-cold air against the skin triggers an immediate physiological response. Surface blood vessels constrict, the nervous system fires, and the body releases a sharp rise in norepinephrine, a catecholamine tied to focus, mood, and alertness. The effect on attention and drive can last well beyond the session itself.
The intense cold also modulates the inflammatory and circulatory response, which is why athletes use it to manage soreness and fatigue. And the act of voluntarily entering and staying calm in the extreme cold is itself a training stimulus for the nervous system. You are rehearsing composure under stress.

Honest About
the Evidence.
Whole-body cryotherapy has encouraging evidence for some effects and emerging or nuanced evidence for others. We will not oversell it. The acute norepinephrine and alertness response and short-term effects on soreness and inflammation are the best-supported, while long-term outcome data is still developing. The recovery picture is contextual, timing relative to training matters, and we coach that nuance rather than ignore it.
Cryotherapy, Answered.
How long is a cryotherapy session?
Sessions are short by design, typically two to three minutes in the chamber. The goal is a controlled, intense dose of cold air, not endurance. Your clinician sets duration and temperature to your goals and tolerance.
How is this different from a cold plunge?
A cold plunge immerses you in cold water and pulls heat from the whole body, including the core. Whole-body cryotherapy surrounds you with ultra-cold air for a shorter, more intense skin-level stimulus. We use each for different goals and often pair them.
Is whole-body cryotherapy safe?
The cold is extreme and demands respect. Anyone with cardiovascular conditions, pregnancy, or related concerns should be cleared first. The NEO Luna chamber is nitrogen-free, and we assess fit and supervise every session.
When should I do it around training?
Timing matters. Cold immediately after resistance training may blunt some muscle-building signals, so for hypertrophy we schedule it apart from lifting. For recovery, inflammation, and alertness it fits on many days. We coach the timing.
